Drivin' N Cryin'
Celebrating its 32nd Anniversary together, folk-rock act Drivin’ N Cryin’ delivers electrifying live shows that fuse honky-tonk melodies with searing hard-rock guitar riffs. Founding members Kevn Kinney and Tim Nielson formed the band in Atlanta in October 1985, playing their first show at Atlanta’s famed 688 Club. Drivin’ N Cryin’s unique blend of hair-metal-meets-country quickly amassed an avid fan-base among critics and music-lovers alike. The band has stayed the course through an ever-changing musical landscape and multiple lineup changes, and now with newest members drummer Dave V. Johnson and guitarist Luar Joamist, they've been back on the road and thrilling concertgoers across the U.S---including stops at Levitt Shell Memphis (2012, 2013) and Levitt AMP New Albany (2016).

Drivin’ N Cryin’s 1991 album Fly Me Courageous sold over 500,000 copies, earning a gold certification and sparking a robust touring schedule—including tour dates with artists like Neil Young and Soul Asylum. In 2011, the Georgia General Assembly issued a House resolution honoring the band’s contributions to the region’s musical heritage and their commitment to improving the lives of others through benefit concerts and charity work. The following year, the group was the subject of a feature documentary, Scarred but Smarter: Life n Times of Drivin’ N Cryin’, chronicling the group’s history through multiple interviews with celebrity fans including Peter Buck of R.E.M., Darius Rucker of Hootie and the Blowfish and Ty Pennington of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Since then, Drivin’ N Cryin’ has been inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame (2015) and named one of Paste Magazine’s “50 best Southern Rock Albums of All Time” (2018).

Tee Dee Young

Heralded as ‘a blues legend in his own time,’ master guitarist Tee Dee Young is a force to be reckoned with, known for his dynamic stage presence and exciting live shows that will put you in the mood for dancing. Born in Lexington, Ky., Young grew up surrounded by the blues and gospel and began writing and performing music early in life. He formed his own band at age 14, playing in basements and at private parties. By the time he was 20, Young graduated to legendary venues like the Cotton Club in New York City and Kingston Mines in Chicago. Young is noted for his unique approach to playing the blues that he describes as “firing down on that guitar,” creating striking tones and melodies that remain authentic to the genre without bending to current industry trends. Young writes and performs his own music but also incorporates covers of other artists infused with his distinctive fire. Today, he operates a blues club named Tee-Dee’s Lounge in Lexington, Ky., where his love for pleasing his audience and high-energy performances keep fans coming back for more.

Young and his band were named 2011’s Best Blues Band in Kentucky by the Blues Society Bowling Green, the 2011 King of Beale Street Blues and the Best Blues Artist at the Lexington Music Awards for two consecutive years (2015, 2016). Young has thrilled audiences across the nation, including a 2013 performance at Levitt SteelStacks in Bethlehem, Pa., and throughout Europe. He has performed with and opened for renowned artists like James Brown, Johnny Rawls, Ike and Tina Turner, Guitar Shorty and Al Green.

Nicholas Jamerson

With his dreamy acoustic picking and a voice that runs molasses-thick, old-soul Nicholas Jamerson writes earnest songs that are filled with heart. His songs spin tales of southern gothic drama woven with an intricate emotional framework, underscored with delicate Americana instrumentation and country-folk melodies. Raised in Prestonburg, Ky., the singer-songwriter began his career as half of the duo Sundy Best with fellow Prestonburg-native and lifelong friend Kris Bently. Since announcing the band’s split in March 2018, Jamerson has embarked on a solo career that remains true to Sundy Best’s country sound and showcases both his remarkable vocal and instrumental skill and his outstanding abilities as a songwriter.

As part of Sundy Best, Jamerson performed at iconic venues like the Grand Ole Opry and the Rymann Auditorium in Nashville, and their 2014 album Bring Up the Sun reached #11 on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart. Jamerson’s debut solo album NJ, recently released this past January, received glowing reviews from outlets like Rolling Stone and Still: The Journal.

Discover Letcher County Guided Tours - Bad Branch Falls

The hike to Bad Branch Falls is a little over a mile (one way) and takes close to 2.5 hours at a leisurely pace. The trail will take you through an old timber hall road that was built in the 30’s or 40’s. In places where you hike, bridges were built because there was no place to build a road on the hillside due to the sandstone cliffs.
This hike is a categorized as a moderate hike because it requires climbing over rocks and walking around small ledges. Most people that can walk one mile should not have any trouble.
The scenery to the falls is breathtaking, including high sandstone cliff’s, giant hemlock pines and many different types of rock formations.
This tour includes transportation and a packed snack with water.
Hiking tours also include a walking stick & prepared backpack to use during the hike. Tours can accommodate groups of up to 8 people, with a maximum of 4 children on hiking tours, for safety purposes.

DAVE EGGAR BAND

As a former childhood musical prodigy—who has since collaborated with icons like Coldplay, Beyoncé and The Who—Dave Eggar’s impeccable piano and cello playing has wowed audiences across the globe. His technical skills are matched by his energetic and emotionally laden compositions, and his dynamic music is equally ‘at home’ in an orchestral performance or on a festival stage. Eggar began playing the cello and piano at age three, performed on Broadway and with the Metropolitan Opera at age seven and debuted at Carnegie Hall at age 15, as the youngest winner in the history of the New York International Artists Association’s International Artists Competition. He is a graduate of Harvard University and The Julliard School's Doctoral Program. You can hear his stunning cello work in the intro of Coldplay’s “Viva la Vida” and his acumen as an arranger throughout Zayn Malik’s debut album Mind of Mine, which reached #1 on the Billboard Top 200.

A virtuoso of many styles, Eggar has performed worldwide as a solo cellist and pianist and worked with artists across a wide range of genres, including Frank Ocean, Pearl Jam, Fall Out Boy, Sinead O'Connor, Bon Jovi and many more. He has received accolades from Time Magazine, the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) and the National Endowment for the Arts. His latest solo album, Kingston Morning (2010), explores the intersection between reggae and Appalachian music.
